The Starlings, a guerilla public art unit determined to incite polite mischief and enthusiastic critical discourse, were commissioned by Häagen-Dazs to create an Art world Crit Kit for the 2003 New York Armory show. Based on the idea of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ taste in the art, fashion, and general spectacle that defines the gallery scene, the kit consists of an auction-paddle-shaped pen for use to fill in pre-printed tyvek wristbands and award artists, gallerists and attendees with whatever seems in ‘good’ or ‘bad’ taste.
